Ukrainian language setters, markers, proofreaders and moderators needed

For Assessment at L6 for the CIOL Qualifications Diploma in Public Service Interpreting and L7 for the CIOL Qualifications Diploma in Translation

CIOL Qualifications (CIOLQ) is an Awarding Organisation and the associated educational charity of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. We offer professional qualifications in interpreting and translation which are recognised both nationally and internationally by the professions, business, and public services.

Given the conflict in Ukraine and the mass displacement of people and families we believe there will be a growing need for UK-based public service interpreters and translators, and we are keen to support UK government and public services to meet this need.

We assess candidates in a wide range of languages against the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) scales C1 (Upper-Intermediate) and C2 (Advanced). The timings and volume of our assessments vary, but we regularly test large cohorts in European and world languages approximately six times a year. We have an extensive database of freelance assessors, who are linguists from a variety of backgrounds and devote time to assessment commissions, showing dedication to their profession and personal development. Assessing is both varied and incredibly rewarding. It can also be challenging, but assessors frequently talk about the skills and knowledge they gain while doing this type of work, which can open up new opportunities and further career progress.

CIOL Qualifications is currently seeking suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join the CIOL database of assessors to in the following language.

UKRANIAN

Because of the importance of the assessments, applicants should be committed to attending training and standardisation days if and when required and also be available for assessment weeks.

Applicants should be native Ukrainian speakers and should also possess an excellent (C1 or equivalent) command of English.

Applicants should ideally be educated to degree level or higher.

Please note all assessors are engaged on a freelance basis.

Acceptance as an assessor by CIOL Qualifications does not guarantee the offer of or availability of assessment work either on a regular or an intermittent basis.
