CIOL’s new mentoring platform is proving popular and a good number of members have signed up as mentees, looking for support and guidance from fellow members. If you are unsure of the types of things you could ask your mentor, or if your conversations with a mentor have become repetitive, here are a set of questions that could really help you keep things interesting and valuable for you and your mentor.

Introduction

CIOL is committed to setting, maintaining and upholding the highest standards of professional conduct. It sets out the standards and behaviours expected of its members and Chartered Linguists in the Code of Professional Conduct, which all members and chartered linguists agree to abide by when they join CIOL. The professional conduct procedures apply to all current CIOL members and to all registered Chartered Linguists. 

Renewal fees are agreed each year at the CIOL AGM and apply to all memberships that have a renewal date within the specified dates below.

Why CIOL Mentoring?

Mentoring is a great way to learn, grow and connect with others.

Three major benefits are: 

Postnominal letters, (also known as postnominal initials, postnominal titles or designatory letters), are letters placed after a person's name to indicate that that individual holds a position, academic degree, or other form of public accreditation.

Evidence of professional practice

As part of CIOL’s quality assurance procedures to ensure standards for Chartered Linguist registration are maintained, we call a random selection of Chartered Linguists for audit on a regular basis.

If you have been called for audit, we will have notified you of the date by which the evidence required to support your continued registration as a Chartered Linguist must be received. Please ensure that the evidence requested is submitted by this date otherwise your registration may be affected.
