Statement: After initially gaining a first class honours degree in Arabic from Durham University UK, I honed my Arabic language skills during 17 years' service as an officer in the British Army. This service included a number of varying roles and postings across the Middle East, and 3 years as head of the Arabic Language Wing at the Defence School of Languages. This was followed by a further 11 years working as a training manager and Arabic linguist in the United Arab Emirates.
