Statement: I'm a chartered linguist, and a member of the CIOL Translating Division and Scottish society. A translator from English/German to Hindi, I have served as a committee member of the Scottish Society (2006-2012). I completed my first translation as a novice in 1974 (poems of Pablo Neruda from English into Hindi), while still a student at Humboldt-Universität Zu Berlin.
Aside, I’ve served as an elected committee member of the Translation Association of the Society of Authors (Nov 2021 to Nov 2024), and judged the Schlegel-Tieck translation prize for German book translations into English (2023-2026).
A published author of short stories and editor of children’s books and picture books, I’m based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
