Chartered Linguist
Statement: Barcelona-based British freelance translator, with a background in marketing copy editing. Enhancing original source texts while remaining invisible to readers since 2006. I specialise in Dutch (including Flemish) to English, having studied in Utrecht in the Netherlands and Leuven in Belgium. My goal is straightforward: the target text should read like natural, idiomatic English, without that all-to-common ‘Dunglish’ (= Dutch-tainted English) twist: involving syntax, sentence structure, tone, register and phraseology, and accurate terminology. My portfolio ranges from contracts in drafted intricate legalese, to sharp and engaging marketing, to absorbing creative fiction. I also translate from Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan.
