|Mr Rob Beswick||Head of Membership||
Rob joined CIOL in 2019 as Head of Membership, responsible for both membership retention and growth strategy for CIOL. He works closely with CIOL's membership as well as a number of Committees and Boards to improve the member’s experience and is continually looking for new ways to support the linguistic community. Previous to joining CIOL, he held a number of roles during his time at the Service Desk Institute (SDI) including Events, Corporate Partnerships, Members' Services and, most recently, as the Head of Membership and Product Development.
|Mrs Soheila PHILLIPS||Membership Manager (maternity leave)||
Soheila joined CIOL in 2007 and is responsible for managing, developing and promoting all aspects of membership and the Chartered Linguist (CL) Scheme. She works closely with the CIOL Membership Committee and the CL Registration Board on the admittance of new members and Chartered Linguists. She manages the membership renewal process and works closely with the Head of Membership to monitor, review and evaluate membership services and benefits as well as assisting to increase the CIOL membership. She has a degree in German and Linguistics.
|Mr Brian STATTON||Acting Membership Manager||
Brian joined CIOL in August 2018. He deals with all membership enquiries, providing support by phone and email. His duties include assisting with renewals, collating the requisite evidence for the assessment of all membership applications to join CIOL and assisting with the process. He works collaboratively with the Membership Manager. Brian is an experienced Membership Officer, most recently having worked for the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals for four years.
|Mr Gulam Hussain||Membership Services Officer||
Gulam joined CIOL in October 2018, and has a strong background in customer service, most recently having worked for Money Advice Service for over two years. Gulam works closely with the Senior Membership Services Officer and is also a point of contact for all membership queries. He is responsible for the assessment of membership applications. Gulam also attends CIOL’s major events such as Members’ Day, the Language Show and Awards Evening.
|Ms Deborah BUTLER||Communications & Marketing Manager||
Debbie joined CIOL in 2014 after holding a number of marketing roles in the classical music, music education and not-for-profit sectors where she gained experience of communications, marketing and promotional strategies. She also has experience of brand development and representing organisations externally, both in the UK and internationally. In her role at the UK's chief music examining board, Debbie gained experience of promoting exams and working with examiners and educators. It was a keen interest in languages and other cultures that attracted Debbie to the communications role at CIOL. She works across both CIOL and IoLET, organising events and campaigns to raise the profile of the organisation through all communications channels.
|Ms Monica Solanki||Digital Content Marketing Officer||
Monica joined CIOL in October 2017 having arrived from New Zealand in July the same year. As Digital Content Marketing Officer, Monica’s role is to support the communications team in creating newsletters and event mailings, to update the website and to liaise with CIOL’s divisions and societies to ensure their events are promoted. Monica also looks after the social media channels. She held a similar role in New Zealand, working for the charity Deaf Aotearoa.
