It’s just talking … isn’t it? The Life of a Voiceover Artist

Join acclaimed narrator and voice artist Rory Barnett for an insightful session exploring the evolving world of voice work. Rory will share how he entered the industry and unpack the key disciplines within voiceover and voice acting—highlighting why they are not the same. He’ll also discuss the profession’s biggest current challenges, including the impact of AI, and reveal emerging opportunities for artists whose first language isn’t English, especially in areas such as dubbing. This talk offers practical guidance and inspiration for anyone interested in breaking into or thriving within the voice industry.

Speaker bio:

As well as a career spanning advertising, commercial radio and the BBC, Rory has been a full-time voice artist for almost 15 years. He’s a master of accents and languages (fluent in French, and has studied German, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese). He’s the lead singer in a band, Jack Russell owner, cyclist, Padel player and is a font of useless facts and figures - the more obscure the better. Phrase most commonly heard: “you’d be my ‘phone a friend’ on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
