Dr Katy Peters, a solicitor, academic, and legal expert, offers her extensive knowledge in an insightful session on the role of interpreters in legal proceedings. Specialising in medical, health, and community care law, her work spans law (including litigation and court procedure), ethics, and access to justice. With experience on the Civil Procedure Rule Committee and as a Law Society Expert in Mental Capacity Law, Dr Katy Peters has advised NHS Trusts, clinicians, patients, and carers during her time in practice. She has also worked with interpreters in relation to litigation, the legal advice sector, and community-based refugee support projects.
Dr Katy Peters is an affiliate with the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI and a member of the Surrey Law & Technology Hub. She is currently involved with projects relating to litigation vulnerability, legal confidence, digital exclusion, and the use of technology in the legal advice sector.
