We are very excited to announce a refresh of our website www.ciol.org.uk. CIOL members and visitors alike will enjoy an enhanced user experience but the same familiar look and feel of the previous website.
In response to member and user feedback, we have introduced architectural improvements to the Find-a-Linguist directory, a major benefit to CIOL members and the public alike. Access to the directory is now very prominent on the homepage, making it much easier to find, with searches requiring fewer parameters, allowing for a quicker search. Searches can be refined after submission.
Users of Find-a-Linguist will also enjoy a quicker and more intuitive search response. One improvement made directly in response to member and user feedback is the removal of the membership grade filter – but users still wishing to search by grade can sort results by grade if they wish.
Also new is our Member Check service, allowing users to quickly verify an individual's membership. This will serve to protect both members and their clients, since membership can be quickly and easily checked. Members can share with clients their own unique link to a page displaying their membership information, including links to their Find-a-Linguist listing(s).
We have introduced My CIOL, our dedicated members' area, giving members access to their contact details and Find-a-Linguist listings, so they can keep their own information updated. MyCIOL also gives access to all benefits, as well as those for members only, including CIOL logos and other useful information. This section will be added to as new benefits and content become available.
Another new feature of the site is online membership applications. With the refresh, this is already available for our new Student Affiliate and IoLET Affiliate grades, with other grades of membership will following very soon.
The website refresh coincides with upgrades of our other systems, allowing us to enhance our communications with our members.
The refresh is just the start of an ongoing project to continue to improve website functionality and usability for our members, examination candidates, users of Find-a-Linguist and other customers. Over the coming months, new sections will be added with content on, for example, careers in languages, and opportunities for our members to interact with CIOL.
